Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what information Hooked on Jerky (hookedonjerky.com) collects, how we use it, and what choices you have. The short version: the calculators run entirely in your browser, and we never sell your data.
1. What we collect
Analytics data
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use the site, which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are (country or region, never precise location), and the device and browser used. This data is aggregated and is not used to identify you personally. Google processes it under Google’s Privacy Policy, and you can opt out site-wide with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Email sign-ups
If you enter your name and email to download a free guide or join our list, we store those details so we can send the file and the occasional update about new calculators and guides. Sign-up details are held in our database (Supabase) and used only for that purpose. You can unsubscribe from any email we send, and we will never sell or rent your address.
Contact form
When you use the contact form, we receive your name, email and message so we can reply. Messages are delivered to us through Web3Forms and may also be logged in our database purely so we don’t lose your note. We use them only to respond to you.
2. Cookies
Google Analytics sets cookies to tell visitors apart. You can control or delete cookies in your browser settings; disabling them will not affect any of the calculators. We do not run advertising cookies of our own, though embedded third-party content (see below) may set its own.
3. Affiliate links
Some pages link to products on Amazon and other retailers. Clicking an affiliate link may set a cookie on that retailer’s site, which they use to credit a purchase. We receive only aggregate commission information, never your personal data from the retailer. Paid links are always marked; see our affiliate disclosure.
4. Your calculator inputs stay with you
Every calculator on this site runs entirely in your browser. The weights, thicknesses and temperatures you type are not sent to us, logged, or stored anywhere. Close the tab and they’re gone.
5. Third-party services
We rely on third parties for hosting, analytics (Google), email delivery (Web3Forms) and our database (Supabase). Each processes data under its own privacy policy. We only share what a service needs to do its job.
6. Children’s privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Data retention
Analytics data is retained per Google’s terms. Email addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Contact messages are kept only as long as needed to help you.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you. To exercise any of these, get in touch.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any change is reflected in the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
